Debbi Arseneaux

Director, Writer

Debbi Arseneaux has worked as a professional director, stage manager and teaching artist in the DC metro area for the last 9 years. As a director and assistant director, her work has appeared at Adventure Theatre, Imagination Stage, Discovery Theatre, Keegan Theatre, the Madcap Winter Carnival, the Source Theatre Festival, Artomatic and the Capital Fringe Festival. She has stage managed with Theatre Alliance, Rorschach Theatre, Catalyst Theatre Company, Ganymede Arts, Washington Shakespeare Company, and Project Y, as well as the American Conservatory Theatre in San Francicso. As an educator, she has shaped young artists at Imagination Stage, Round House Theatre, Adventure Theatre, and Interact Story Theatre as well as at the Duke Ellington School of the Arts and the KIPP DC Charter School.

In recent years, she has been expanding her experiences, performing as a singer and emcee in the Golden Triangle Cabaret, hosting a weekly Kostume Karaoke event at two different venues, and leading Light Saber/Stage Combat workshops for Adventure Theatre. Elsewhere, she was very excited to have had the opportunity to work for C Venues as a theatre technician for the entirety of the Edinburgh Fringe in 2007 and to participate as an event coordinator for the New Zealand International Arts Festival in 2006. This past summer, she performed as a fire dancer at the Burning Man Festival in Nevada.

Currently, she is also involved with developing an events planning organization called The Rogue Wave Project, dedicated to the idea that fun and philanthropy are not mutually exclusive. Past events have included the Art of Change Inaugural Ball (1200+ attendance) to celebrate President Obama’s inauguration, the April Fool’s Extravaganza (800+) to benefit Clowns Without Borders, and most recently, Electroganic, a night to benefit Skateistan (100+). She is proud to be a founding member of Factory 449: a theatre collective and she looks forward to how her many hats can contribute to the collective’s future endeavors.
